Restringing service

When it comes to guitar repair, one of the most basic yet essential services is the restringing of your instrument. New strings not only provide better tone but also enhance intonation and improve the overall feel of your guitar. Our service includes a thorough fret buff and polish, a meticulous clean and conditioning of the fretboard, and a thorough cleaning of the guitar itself. We ensure that your new strings are properly stretched in and that the guitar is perfectly tuned before it leaves the workshop. All of this is available for just £18, excluding the cost of strings, making it an invaluable investment in your guitar's performance.

*£5 surcharge is applicable to guitars with a locking tremolo system and 12 string guitars.

Set up/servicing

Proper guitar setup is essential for your instrument to play at its best, ensuring optimal performance and playability. The process begins with an initial inspection to assess the overall condition of the guitar. Next, the neck relief is carefully adjusted. The action at the 12th fret is then set, ensuring that it meets your playing style. It's important that the saddles match the fingerboard radius, allowing for even string height across the neck. The nut is also adjusted to ensure that the strings sit at the correct height providing a comfortable feel and reduce intonation problems. A thorough cleaning of the guitar, frets, and fretboard as well as all electronic components, is vital to maintain its longevity and sound quality. After re-stringing the guitar with fresh strings, intonation is checked and adjusted for perfect tuning up the fretboard. All these services come together in a comprehensive setup, typically costing £49, excluding strings. Invest in your guitar today and experience the difference in playability!

Fret work

Fretwork is often overlooked, yet it plays a crucial role in the overall playability of a guitar. Worn and flat frets can lead to unwanted buzz and intonation issues, making it difficult to produce clear notes. When frets become uneven, they not only diminish the guitar's feel but also impact the player's experience significantly. A professional fret level and dress can resolve these problems by smoothing out the frets and ensuring proper height and alignment, ultimately restoring the instrument's playability. However, if the frets are beyond repair, a re-fret may be necessary. We are here to discuss and advise on the best course of action for your guitar, ensuring you get back to playing with confidence and enjoyment.

Fret level and dress prices start from £100 (inc set up).

Re-frets start from £190 upwards. Costs will depend on fretboard type, fret wire material, etc.
